SUMMER SIPPING
|
What better way to cool down on a hot summer day than with a refreshing iced tea.
In addition to quenching your thirst, iced tea offers the same fantastic benefits
and nutrients as a cup of hot tea. Serve it on its own or elevate it as a base
for a delicious mocktail or cocktail.
Nothing pairs better with beach days and backyard barbecues than a crisp glass
of iced tea. The perfect match!
By following one of the three primary brewing methods listed below and using
just a few ingredients, you will be enjoying refreshing iced tea on the patio
or by the poolside in no time.

- Hot brew method: This is the quickest method. Steep tea leaves in hot water (use twice the amount of loose tea you would for hot tea: 2 tsp white, green, or black tea per cup of water; 2 tbsp herbal tea per cup of water). Let it steep for the recommended time, strain, add sweetener to taste while the tea is still warm, and then dilute it with cold water or pour over ice.
- Sun tea: Combine tea and water in a glass jar (1 tsp loose tea per cup of water), seal the jar and place it in a sunny window for 2 to 4 hours. Check the jar every hour until it reaches the desired strength. Add liquid sweetener and enjoy. Consume within 48 hours.
- Cold brew method: A slower process that requires some planning. Combine tea and cold water in a pitcher (1 tsp loose tea per cup of water) and refrigerate for up to 12 hours. Steep white or green teas for 6 to 8 hours and black and herbal teas for 8 to 12 hours. Strain and serve over ice.
Feel free to adjust to your preferences.
