Also called Roselle and Jamaica. Usually sourced from North Africa, these hibiscus flowers are full flavored and have a rosy, tart flavor. Whole hibiscus flowers are preferred for making agua frescas. Generally not recommended for wreaths or craft projects, as many flowers will be broken.
Use 1-2 teaspoons of hibiscus per 8 oz of water. Steep in just boiled water that is around 200°F-212°F, for 3-5 minutes or longer, depending on taste.
